Onyx By Jennifer L. Armentrout

Well I have got to say I really love this series and I really enjoyed this one. I never got tired of the story and never asked "When is this going to pick up and get going?". The characters are awesome and aren't annoying. Seems like most series has at least one character that gets kind of annoying. Katy and sexy Daemon are great. Katy finally gets her emotions in check. I really, really liked this books and series and there isn't anything I would or could bash or complain about. Great book and can't wait to read Opal, third in the series.

Obsidian (A Lux Novel, Book One) By: Jennifer L. Armentrout

This is a book that has been on my "To Read" list and I kept putting it off. I finally bought it and decided to read it. If you like vampire, werewolves, shape shifters and other paranormal creatures u you will like this book. Although this book is about aliens, it is really good. The whole thing about aliens made me feel sketchy. I don't really want to read a book about slimy, green, big eyed creatures. I really thought that is what kind of aliens would be in this book and other books, but I was really wrong and way off. How Jennifer created these aliens they should be called aliens that is too revolting (to me) of a name. I really applaud her for her excellent explanations and creativity. As for the plot it is really good. The only thing that almost made me throw the book and give up was the back and forth feelings of the main character, Katy. She hates him when he's around then likes him when is gone. After several times of that I was getting tired of the bickering, but Jennifer picked it up and the book better with no more back and forth emotions. Since finishing this one I have moved on to Onyx, second in the Lux Series.

My Book Giveaway Winnings

Shannon Delany signed stuff :)
I am not really good at entering in anything and winning, but when it comes to books and my passion to read I'm lucky. The first giveaway that I won was from Shannon Delany author of the 13 to Life series. She gave me several signed bookmarks and a signed book poster and I was so thankful and lucky. The second one I won was just yesterday! I commented on a blog talking about a particular book that I just happened to pick up just because I wanted (and I like to think, also needed) to buy on that day. I can still remember picking it up, looking at the cover, and reading the back thinking "This seems like a good book. I'll take it!" My sister(20), who was with me at the time, asked me if I (18) was sure I wanted to get that one because we were there for like an hour and a half, my sister being a good sport waited while I looked at different books deciding upon which one was lucky enough to go home with me. I never even doubted my choice. What book am I talking about you ask? Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins! This book, for those of you that have yet to read it, is amazing and Wendy is an awesome and creative writer. Not only that, she is a very nice person especially on the occasions we have tweeted and e-mail back and forth. The first time I read Sweet Evil I fell in love with the various story and most of all, the characters. I now usually read it quite often, more often then my other various books. I know that may seem crazy, reading a book over and over again, but the story is just that awesome and there is so much in the book it takes you through a journey that you hope never ends. Anyway back to the point. Many people commented on her blog post (her blog is at http://www.wendyhigginswrites.com/ ), including me and 142 others hoping for a signed bookmark or one of the big giveaways, which was a turquoise heart necklace inspired my the book (you can purchase your very own here http://www.hebeldesign.com/Turquoise-Necklace-SWENE1.htm ) or the first 20 pages of Sweet Peril (#2 in series) which includes table of contents, prologue, and almost all of chapter one. I put my heart into the comment and I just wanted to show my passion and love for the book. Yesterday I got an e-mail from the blog that the winners were posted and I just had to look. First was the list of lucky people who won signed bookmarks. I was disappointed at first not getting a bookmark (not like I would use it, making sure its in perfect condition hahaha) but as I scrolled down a little I found that I won the first 20 pages of Sweet Peril!!! I could not believe it!! I almost passed out not going to lie! But I couldn't pass out or dwell on it because I had to go take a final for one of my classes. I felt like I drank a 2 liter of Mountain Dew and ate a bag of Doritos I was so happy and excited! I did end up calming down enough to concentrate on the test. I still can't believe it! I am so thankful and so happy to have wonderful books to read and nice authors that have brilliant minds :) Thank you Wendy Higgins and Shannon Delany!! :*

Characters

I am sure many people read books and feel as though they really know the characters in them. I for one feel like when I end a book series that one of my close friends has abandoned me and left me without word to where they have gone and how there life is going. It may seem weird I guess but I am not saying the characters are my best friends or anything. I just feel as though they were a part of my life some how. Sometimes I do know a person/friend that is almost just like a character in a book and you may or may not lose that person. I don't know I guess what I am saying is that having a series end sucks! lol I have only one series that has ended that I really was bummed out about. The good thing about a character in a book is that you re-read their adventures and all the details will be there. I guess people journal so some may have a book with all of their own adventures in them. Sometimes I wish that my life was like some of the books I read. Although most of the books I read are paranormal romance books I would love to have the realistic story in them sometimes. Not all the books have stories I wish were mine but a few I wish my life was like one of the characters in the books I read. I guess I could always learn from the books and make my own story some how. I guess Ill be trying that :)

Why YA?

Why do I love YA books? When I was younger I never liked to read at all! I wasn't good at English and I'll admit that I was not the best reader. My freshman year of high school I was put in a reading class. At first I thought why am I in this class? I read fine and I'm not that bad at English. Looking back, I now realize that that class really did make me a better reader and helped me with my English skills. I have been able to write great papers that make since and are on topic since starting really reading. I now really enjoy writeing papers adn they are easy to write. Since that class, I've always had a book in my hand and don't go anywhere without one. My best friend that I have know since kindergarden loves to read and she introduced me to the YA world, and I am so happy that she did. Now that friend and I are introducing one of our other friends into the YA world and so far she is loving it. I also have been getting my sister and mom into some of my favorite books. I never thought I was a romance/paranormal kind of person but I am, and I love all of the YA books I have read throughout the past 5 1/2 years. Ofcourse I have my favorites, but who doesn't?  There are SO many books I have yet to get my hands on (all in the contest) and can't wait to get to read them in the future.
